The foundation of Six Degrees is addressing human needs through the built environment. We create design solutions that meet the social and cultural needs of a place as well as carefully addressing its functional, physical and detailed requirements.
Our human centred approach has led to becoming specialists in high-use environments. These environments span across a range of applications and scales including University & School buildings, shopping centres, offices, city precincts, multi-residential developments, restaurants, bars and pubs
The diverse range of Six Degrees projects has allowed us to cross-pollinate our ideas; for example our hospitality work feeds into education projects and education projects feed into work places. These new, hybrid spaces abandon out-dated conventions of what space ‘should’ be like and create fresh, interesting places more attuned to human needs.
Six Degrees is known for a rich and engaging aesthetic, using raw materials to achieve a high quality finish. Sustainable, natural and recycled materials provide warmth and familiarity; they are also chosen for their durability and ability to tell a story as they age gracefully. Spatial elements and materials are layered to reduce the larger scale of the built environment down to the smaller scale of the human experience, which is ultimately at the core of everything we do.
